Nuts 02:28
Nuts You must be nuts if you want to spend your life with me You must be nuts, Cleopatra I’m no Anthony. I need direction. I need protection You’re confection, say you’ll always stay Your love’s transcending, your will’s unbending I’m recommending that you run away You must be nuts to want this twenty four seven affair You must be nuts, hey Ginger I’m no Fred Astaire Such deep affection, you’re pure perfection Our strange connection is beyond control No brain decision, you’re my ambition I’m in submission, you’re my heart and soul Hey you, hey you And in conclusion there’s no confusion It’s no illusion what we have is true You’re too delicious. Don’t be suspicious I’m just ambitious to be the one for you. You must be nuts to think our love could stop a speeding train You must be nuts, I’m no superman miss Lois Lane You must be nuts.

Hole in the water I thought of making a hole in the water, the mind’s a funny thing There’s some more living beyond that corner. I can hear it singing, I can hear it sing Couldn’t waste this fleeting taste that you only have for a moment An atom lost in the distant dark. That’s a life full of pleasure and torment The sun will wake and the sun will sleep. That’s the only rhythm that’s certain To find each day like a lucky prize, take the laughter along with the hurting. This life must be a vacation A chance to walk in creation.

Call me Dr Frankenstein Can you find me a brain ‘cos I’m building a dreamer Can you find me a heart ‘cos I’m building a fool Are you using your eyes ‘cos you clearly can’t see That I’m building somebody to love me So I’ll look for a smile, do you know where I’ll find me one I’ll search out a kiss that would melt through the ice It’s a new enterprise and I’ve got no degree But I’m building somebody to love me They call me Dr Frankenstein. How else can I make someone like you mine? Do you notice a likeness to someone you know Her hair is the colour of wild fire and gold Then look in the mirror, who else could it be If I’m building somebody to love me. I don’t understand the science. I’m not medically trained But I’ve read some books and this love has me clinically insane. Now I’ll wait for a night when the lighting will strike An electrical pulse will bring her to life If it’s not you I’ll have my own forgery So I’m building somebody to love me.

The Suit 02:32
The Suit The suit did all the talking. The body inside just smiled The shoes did all the walking. His feet followed like a child The suit could sell to anyone. The suit could take the lead And he just sat inside it waiting to be freed The suit it ate him like a crocodile The suit it owned him like and alien reptile He was no Houdini, there was no escape route He was the prisoner of the suit And the people seemed to like him, although his eyes had died. And he tried to tell the truth but the suit was woven out of lies One morning at the station a bird sang in his ear. It said run, run, run you son of a gun. It was all that he could hear. He made himself a fire. Put the suit upon the flame He saw himself reflected in the ashes of his shame. He walked naked to his office, wearing flowers in his hair He smiled at all his colleagues then disappeared into thin air

A hymn for home Our world may pause and falter and tomorrow’s hard to see But wherever tides may take us home is you and me When times may be uncertain I know where I should be Wherever life may cast us home is you and me Family, friends and freedom, a force of gravity Holds our hearts together ‘cos home is you and me.

Mr Hurtful 03:08
Mr Hurtful Mr Hurtful came to town, he picked you up, then let you down And all that you can think about is why Mr Hurtful said Hello. He may have changed, I don’t think so And all that you can think about is why..oh why Down a rabbit hole you tumble, tell me what you find Do you think that love is falling for someone so unkind Mr Hurtful came to play. He said he would but didn’t stay And all that you can think about is why Mr Hurtful does he care. He kissed your cheek and stroked your hair And all that you can think about is why…oh why In those far off thoughts you wander, hoping for the best. Why accept the pain you’re feeling. Do you expect nothing less. It must be easy being someone else. It must be easy knowing the right thing to do.

Another way of knowing Can I have said it all? Heading fast to empty. No more memories to recall, nothing left to tempt me Who were all these people and did I ever know, how their souls ticked inside them Did they enjoy their show Is there another way of knowing, of seeing, being, feeling Another way of believing Is there another way of knowing, of hoping, coping, flowing Another way to keep growing That’s the place I’m going to Another way of knowing I’m floating out to sea, what else is there to write. Got nothing wise to conclude-in darkness- fumbling for the light Is that a sign up ahead I seem to know that face Something feels familiar I recognise this place.

Fearless Foster They call him Fearless Foster the human cannonball See him walk from disaster. He’s never had a bad fall His wife his lovely assistant in her blue sequined gown She’s been smudging the grease paint with sly old Henry the clown Oh it’s the same old story that once you go there’s always someone coming Oh it’s the same old story that once you stop there’s always someone running. Fearless is studying yoga, he meditates for his act Of course he has no idea of his wife’s secret pact Showtime is here and he’s ready. He hears the roar of the crowd They walk to stand by the big gun Fearless is nervous but proud Climb in the gun and it’s blast off. Fearless the cannonball goes. Flying right over the seagulls in his smouldering clothes Then he senses the danger and sees the net’s not in place Turns to look down in his panic and sees his wife’s smiling face

Comfortable pair of shoes He asked, How do I know, how do I know it will last Someone could be lurking, hiding away in her past Well it will feel like a comfortable pair of shoes It will feel like a comfortable pair of shoes She could be acting, she could be leading me on She could distract me, turn round and find that she’s gone Not if it feels like a comfortable pair of shoes Feels like a comfortable pair of shoes I know there’s no answer, science won’t give me a clue But is there a question? Some sort of test we could do? When it feels like a comfortable pair of shoes Feel like a comfortable pair of shoes And you keep walking, walking through life together Walking, walking through life together

Two people 02:57
Two people Two people falling deep Two people play to keep Two people leaving home Two people on their own Two people getting wed Two people lay in bed Two people making me Two people raising me Two people, two people Two people working hard Two people struggle scarred Two people dreaming small Two people have it all I wish I’d known them better but can you ever…ever Two people always there Two people always care Two people love me still Two people always will And I’m the apple you see, that didn’t fall far from the tree Two people, two people.

about

Unpopular songs is a basic demo collection of songs and ideas I've had hanging around in the wardrobe besides the lawnmower.

"The suit ate him like a crocodile. The suit owned him like an alien reptile. He was no Houdini, there was no escape route. He was the prisoner of the suit."
